STILL LIFE / KÜCHENSTILLLEBEN
The new dining place
2018

by DOMÉS International Review of Architecture
The 17th century baroque still life painting of Jeremias van Winghe known as “a kitchen interior with a maid preparing meat and gentlemen drinking at a table beyond” is illustrated on a heavy curtain flowing on a looping rail, in the center of a free plan of a 30m² dining room.
An ornamental rail is guiding the surface and offers the guests the flexibility to organize the enclosure and exposure of the dining stage.
The curtain becomes the background of all activities, replacing the architectural typologies of walls and openings.
